Fire-proof doors are specialized doors intended for prevention of fire distribution,for creation of conditions for safe evacuation of people and rescue of material values,for ensuring access of fire services to the seat of fire.
When choosing the door the main thing is the necessary degree of the room protection, functionality of the door and its technical parameters.
The main parameter is the limit of fire resistance, designated as EL. It defines the time during which the door is capable to hold fire and smoke. According to Russian standards, this time comprises 15, 30, 45, 60, 120, 150, 180, 240 and 360 minutes. In practice the best fire-proof doors are capable to sustain no more than 2 hours. The door with fire resistance of 30 minutes (EL 30) is the best choice for cottage or apartament as the room of the average size burns out approximately in 15-20 minutes. Offices require the fire-proof door with bigger fire resistance.
Today fire-proof doors perfectly suit for any interior and don't spoil appearance of buildings. They can be made of various materials, and the installed special accessories are perfectly combined with the door leaf which color scheme can be practically any. Fire-proof doors can be blind,partially glassed and fully made of glass, and thus they can be single-door or two-fold.
Any fire-proof door should obligatory have internal and external layers (there can be several layers depending on design). The main "internal" materials are heat insulators (so that the door don't ignite for the longer time), for example, not burning mineral wool is very popular as a heat insulator. For the external layer metal, plastic and fire-proof paints are usually used.
